Welcome to the Show!

Thank you for joining us during our 5th Annual Story Show production, hosted in partnership with Foundry Theater. We are so proud of our dancers’ hard work and commitment to making this show a success. Sit back, cheer them on, laugh out loud, and enjoy the show!

Photography and videography are welcome during the production. We ask that audience members remain seated, make sure flash is turned off, and be courteous to others when capturing show memories.

Please refrain from entering and exiting the theater while the show is taking place, unless there is an emergency or to avoid disruption of other audience members.

There will be a 15-minute intermission following Act 1.

ACT 1

The role of Shrek will be played by Kylee Ferguson in this weekend’s performance, understudying the original cast member, Ava Mays.

A Happy Neighborhood → Before Lord Farquaad conquers the land, fairytale creatures and villagers lived in harmony. When he takes over, his plans are to change that drastically.

The Secluded Swamp → Back at the swamp, we are introduced to Shrek, who is oblivious to the situation occurring outside his home. He spends the morning doing his typical routine.

Banished to the Swamp → Just as the morning starts, Shrek is stopped abruptly when Donkey makes his appearance. Slowly, more and more fairytale creatures appear. Shrek, wanting to stay in his secluded territory, asks if anyone knows where Lord Farquaad is so he can speak with him about sending them elsewhere. The only one who knows where to take Shrek is Donkey.

Welcome to Duloc → Back in town, we are introduced to Duloc, the village that is now ruled by Lord Farquaad.

Lord Farquaad & Gingy → Lord Farquaad spends a relaxing evening in his bedroom. Deciding he needs a midnight snack, Gingy joins as well.

Magic Mirror on the Wall → It’s been found! As more and more fairytale creatures have been turned into authorities, the Magic Mirror that Lord Farquaad was looking for has finally appeared. Now, he can finally figure out how to become the king.

Which Princess will you choose? → Based on Lord Farquaad’s wishes, the Magic Mirror provides 3 different options for him to marry to become the king.

Fiona’s Dream → After Lord Farquaad decides that Fiona is the perfect choice, we get a glimpse into her backstory, told through 3 versions of herself.

Deal or No Deal → Donkey and Shrek have finally made it to Lord Farquaad’s headquarters. When Shrek describes his desire to have the swamp back to himself, Farquaad proposes a deal — If Shrek can fight the Dragon and bring Princess Fiona back, then Lord Farquaad will move the fairytale creatures to a new location.

We All Can Dream → In the final scene of Act 1, each character is caught in their own dream. Lord Farquaad is dreaming of the life he will have after he gets married, Princess Fiona is dreaming of her Prince Charming, and Shrek and Donkey are preparing for the adventure ahead.

ACT 2

Travel Song → There’s nothing that makes the time go by a little faster than a Travel Song… according to Donkey of course.

Arriving to the Castle → Shrek and Donkey have finally reached the castle gates. Fiona peeks over from the tower to view what she can only assume is her Prince Charming. The Dragon takes her place, guarding the land.

The Battle → The Dragon, experienced in protecting the castle, prepares for another battle, this time against Shrek and Donkey.

Meeting Prince Charmining → Once Kathleen is captured, Shrek sets off to find Princess Fiona. She awakens from her sleep, excited to take in the moment with her beloved prince. Shrek, trying to move things along quickly, is not in the mood for a slow dance.

Charming the Dragon → Back to the battle scene, we find that Donkey has taken a new approach to defeating the Dragon. Using his charm, Donkey convinces the Dragon to leave the castle and run away together.

This Wasn’t My Dream → Princess Fiona, realizing that her Prince Charming wasn’t what she expected, doesn’t want to travel back to Duloc to meet Lord Farquaad, despite lots of convincing.

Good Morning → After abruptly setting up camp the night before, Princess Fiona is the first to wake up. She’s always enjoyed the mornings and is starting to warm up to Shrek and Donkey. Day two of their travels begin

Back on the Road → Another full day of traveling, adventures, and antics awaits the group as they set off towards Duloc. Despite almost making it back home, Princess Fiona insists on setting up camp overnight once more.

Fiona’s Secret → In the middle of the night, Donkey wanders around, unable to sleep. He runs into Princess Fiona, revealing a secret he would have never expected. Shrek, falling in love with Princess Fiona, sets off to pick flowers, planning to surprise her in the morning. He overhears a conversation between Donkey and Fiona, misinterpreting it, and loses confidence in ever finding true love.

Good Morning, Fiona → Fiona is the first to wake up, feeling a new freedom as she ponders telling Shrek her secret.

Farquaad’s Proposal→ Devastated from the evening before, Shrek calls Lord Farquaad to meet them at their campsite, cutting the trip off early. Lord Farquaad, along with his guards, arrives on the scene to propose to Princess Fiona. Knowing that she has a limited time before transitioning into another version of herself, Fiona insists on having the wedding that day.

A Duloc Wedding→ The rushed wedding begins. Citizens from Duloc join to watch the wedding, based in traditions created from Lord Farquaad, including the unity candle gingerbread lighting ceremony. Chaos erupts when Shrek makes a surprise appearance.

True Love’s Wedding → Shrek and Fiona finally confess their love for each other, joining together in the swamp with their new fairytale creature and villager friends for a wedding.

Our Most Magical Show of the Year!

Studio 301 produces an exciting, never-before-seen holiday production each December in partnership with Foundry Theater at Huntington City Hall. Each performance follows the storyline of Nutcracker but with exciting twists including new music, multiple genres of dance, and something different every year!

Our Holiday Performance is a FREE performance opportunity without additional rehearsal, costuming, or set design.

Dancers of all levels are welcome to audition for special parts in this exciting show.

Each opportunity is full of vibrant costumes, exciting set design, and is produced at a professional level.

Story Shows are Now Production Teams

For Five Seasons, Studio 301 has produced multiple different storybook shows during the Spring Semester. Starting in Season 7, our studio is transitioning out of full-length productions into two smaller mini-productions, full of the same excitement!

Production Teams offer a low-cost option for dancers to perform on stage, telling a classic story through dance.

Dancers of all levels are welcome to audition for special parts in these exciting shows.

At the end of each season, each Studio 301 dancer performs on stage during our themed End-of-Year Showcase! This performance shows off all the hard work each dancer puts in dance class through challenging choreography, costumes you get to keep, and so much FUN!
